Rhinoplasty surgeries are performed in two ways as closed and open techniques. Which method will be applied is decided by your doctor according to the problems in the nose? The most important feature of the operations performed with closed technique is that the incisions are made through the nose and there is no incision on the skin. In operations performed with open technique, an incision is applied externally. This incision does not create an uncomfortable appearance as it remains in the lower parts of the nose and the aesthetics is closed while closing.
Rhinoplasty surgery is a surgery that requires an age limit depending on the development of the nose, especially bone and cartilage. This surgery is not performed for women under 17 years of age, and for men under 18 years of age. There is no upper age limit for this surgery. Anyone whose nose development has been completed can have this surgery.
Rhinoplasty surgeries are completed in different times depending on the technique to be applied in the surgery and the problem in the nose. Usually, it is around 1.5-2.5 hours
In the past years, maybe yes, but nowadays, patients do not experience a serious pain problem after the development of the anesthesia techniques applied and the change in the surgical techniques. Rhinoplasty surgery is mostly performed under general anesthesia. In this case, the patient does not feel any pain. In the post-operative period, if you follow the recommended treatment plan regularly, there are no problems.
Men’s nasal skin is thicker than women. at the same time, especially the bone thickness is higher. There is no significant difference in terms of surgery difficulty. only in male patients, especially depending on the request of the person; It is necessary to end the surgery without losing the masculine structure. This is the most important difference in male rhinoplasty surgeries.
Nose is not just an aesthetic appearance; It is also the most important organ of the upper airway. Therefore, a nose that cannot fulfill its respiratory function makes a person unhappy no matter how aesthetically beautiful it is. It can cause many problems such as snoring, sleep apnea, fatigue and poor sleep quality. Along with plastic surgeries, the pathologies that cause these problems can also be corrected during the same surgery.
Some swelling may be seen after surgery. However, we do not see much bruising in our own practice.
A period of time is waited for the effect of the anesthetic drugs applied during the surgery on your body to decrease. Sometimes nausea, mild dizziness, and rarely vomiting may occur due to these drugs. Therefore, feeding starts 2 hours after the end of the operation. You can usually be discharged from the hospital on the same day after the operation. However, if you wish, you can stay in the hospital overnight and return home the next morning.
Face has a very rich vascular-neural network. At the same time, since there are very small cartilages and ligaments in the nose, it may take some time for these tissues to be reshaped after surgery. It is normal to have some swelling, especially in the first weeks. With each passing day, your body will accept your new nose a little more and recovery will accelerate.
In most of the operations we perform in our own practice, nothing such as a tampon or silicone is placed inside the nose. At the same time, no plaster or mold is applied to the outer part of the nose. This is the biggest reason why our patients are happy when they come for control. because no painful procedure is applied during the controls.
If possible, it is recommended to rest for a week after surgery. However, if you have a job where you can work without tiring yourself, lifting heavy or bending your head forward, it is okay to start work earlier.
You can do walking or light exercises a few days after surgery. However, it is useful to postpone activities such as weight lifting for 3 months.
It is not an accurate and convincing approach to give a 100% guarantee not only in nose surgeries, but also in any postoperative process or result. Because, unfortunately, the whole result of the operation does not depend solely on the physician. Humans are living organisms and the healing process of the patient is also of great importance here.
A physician who says I have no revision either does not perform any surgery or is not telling the truth. every doctor has a revision. This rate is around 3-4% in our own surgeries. Of course, there are many factors involved here; revision cases are more likely especially for curved and highly deformed noses.
There is no seasonal restriction for surgery. However, especially when nasal surgeries are performed in extremely hot weather, the possibility of swelling and bleeding increases slightly during the recovery period after surgery. You can overcome this situation more comfortably by staying in cool places (eg air-conditioned environment)
For our own surgeries, it is very unlikely that the tip of the nose will fall off. Most people with thick skin are observed to have a drop of the tip of the nose. But even with these people, this risk can be reduced considerably with appropriate techniques.
